FAQ

Who can join?

Anyone who feels like they could use a good cry is welcome to join, just as you are. You never have to justify your reasons, and your needs are always valid, no matter how big or small they feel. We honor you for prioritizing your well-being and showing up for yourself.

Do I have to turn on my camera or microphone?

No, your microphone and camera settings will remain turned off during the session. Only your host will be visible and heard. This is intentional.

The sessions are designed to provide a space for personal emotional release. Simply knowing that others are also in their own process of letting go can offer each other a sense of solace.

There are no disruptions, expectations, interactions, or influences by others. Only the quiet comfort of shared presence, where simply existing alongside one another is enough.

How long and what happens in each session?

Each live session lasts 30 minutes. We’ll take 5 minutes at the start for everyone to get settled. Then, we’ll begin with a brief opening to set the tone. After that, we’ll spend 15 minutes releasing those tears, followed by a short guided meditation to gently transition you back into your day.

Is this therapy?

No, The UglyCry.Club is not a therapy or crisis counseling service. We provide an online space for emotional release, similar to meditation, journaling, or mindfulness practices.

If you are experiencing distress that is interfering with your daily life, please reach out to a qualified mental health professional for guidance. We've gathered some options that can help on our Resources page.

Does it cost anything?

You are invited to attend our sessions on a pay-as-you-wish basis. Your presence is always welcome, regardless of whether you are able to contribute. Should you choose to give, your generosity helps sustain our mission and allows us to make meaningful donations to the nonprofit mental health organizations featured on our Resources page.

What if I can’t cry?

There are absolutely no expectations or requirements to cry. The sessions are about giving yourself permission to be present with whatever arises. Your time can be spent thinking deeply, feeling quietly, or simply being still. There’s no right or wrong way to participate—just self-attention, in whatever form it naturally takes.
