Why we cry?

Crying is often misunderstood as losing control or a sign of weakness, but the need to cry is a meaningful emotional cue to ourselves and others that something important is happening inside. It shows that we are feeling overwhelmed, vulnerable, or deeply moved.

Crying acts as a release valve for intense emotions. Even when the world tells you to avoid it or toughen up, shedding tears allows our body to begin restoring balance.

Crying is our body’s natural design to take care of us:

  • It activates your parasympathetic nervous system, which counterbalances the "fight or flight" response, bringing the body back to a state of calm.

  • Tears flush out excess stress hormones like cortisol, clearing the overflow of toxins and easing tension in your body.

  • Crying releases natural chemicals that act like painkillers. Oxytocin and endorphins can help your body to soothe emotional and ease physical pain.
